Focusing on Life: 15 Minutes...or more

I have a lot of free time.  I never really thought about it until I got challenged by Sally this week to take some time for myself and just chill.  Uh.  I do that everyday.  Heck, last weekend, I had a full day of nothing.  Through the course of the week, I was conscious of how much time I spend alone and, while chatting with the cat, I figured out that I'm probably a bit unique. Maybe I need to get the hell out of the house and do something.  Maybe I need to volunteer somewhere.  Hmmm.  Maybe I need to move!  We shall see...

I did, though, try a little something new this week to get my solo groove on.  I started on a big art journal.  Those flippin' prismacolor nupastels are now one of my favorite things ever.  I haven't really ventured out of a monochromatic schemes so far, but my new 96-color pack allows for lots of rich mixes.
So, playing by myself was my fun chill time of the week.  I can't wait to keep on filling this book with experiments and color and fun and gripes and laughs.  For now, I need to get on the road for a crafty weekend in Maryland. Whooo hooooo!!!

  5. On man, I LOVE art journaling too! I thought I was addicted to beads before.....now I have to buy every new paint supply. Haven't got Nupastels yet - so you see how dangerous it is to hear about something else? 96... gee whiskers that would be one load of fun!

  11. Awesome! I love the rush of new supplies. I still browse back-to-school flyers every year and feel compeled to buy new markers or crayons. Having a child now makes it easy to pretend they are for her

  12. Ohhh that looks like fun! I haven't played with colors for a long time--well except in beads. What a great way to recharge!

I'm a bit like you. When I am not at work I tend to stay at home--alone, talking to my beads, the laundry etc.

Have fun with your new Prismacolors!!!

  16. That is a glorious pink (at least on my computer screen); deep, rich and vibrant.

  17. I also spend a lot of time by myself, if I am not at mom's house working on jewelry or talking with her. When at home I talk a lot with the cats, waiting to see if they ever talk back :) I love your idea of an art journal -I want to try one - but I feel so inhibited! I am going to have to get out of my box and give it a try. Your post on "I Faced the Blank Paper" inspires me. Maybe that is my new art project for this year - face my fear/dread of drawing and try it again.
